"Ride the Darby" Ride Report

Saturday, August 4 I rode the COP organized "Ride the Darby" event. $2 members/$4 non-members. The ride started in Grove City at the Buckeye Grove Shopping Center. It was in the low 70's when we started. I rode with friends of mine on a tandem.

We rode south on Hoover, turned west for a bit before heading north along the eastern side of the Darby Watershed. We had a headwind going north and I drafted behind the tandem.

On the return trip south we stopped in West Jefferson at the McDonalds for breakfast. Of course the tailwind never materialized. We rode through the Harrisburg Homecoming Festival but did not stop. By the time we ended the ride at 12:30PM it was 91 degrees.

The 55 mile route that we rode was mostly flat and we averaged 16.3 mph. There were a few rollers and slight climbs along the route, including one past a prison.
