Tuesday Night Ride Report - 0504010

Highlights   20 riders at the start A lot of new riders, including some more people who have given up on Monday rides. Visited roll: at Easton, but we did not make it to roll: on Lane. Maybe next week. Ended at Press Grille but they were packed so we went to Mac's for wings and beer. 23.5 miles total

Share the road, share the parking lots - Dispatch

We didn't have space in today's paper to write much about the the bike-parking part of new rules designed to  "right-size" the expanses of asphalt surrounding Columbus shopping centers. But here's a rundown of the new requirements: - Every type of building -- bowling alleys, churches, shopping centers, restaurants, office buildings, etc. -- must provide a minimum of two bike-parking spaces. - Bigger places must provide an extra bike parking spot for every 20 car-parking spaces, up to a maximum of 20 bike spaces. - Bike racks must be anchored to the ground and support a bicycle upright in two places. - The rules apply for new developments or when a building's use changes (if a restaurant becomes a retail store, for example). more here...

Olentangy Trail Detour---Clinton Como Park to Tuttle Park The utlitiies project is now ending, and the trail will be reopened.  However, during the next couple of weeks, please slow down and proceed with caution in this area, as construction crews will still be accessing the path to clean up, repair berms, seeding, etc.  Please be courteous and alert.  Thanks for your patience during this period." Editor's note: We rode the trail on May 1 and there are sections of trail that will need to be repaved, but it is passable.
