Does CINCINNATI have a 3-FOOT PASSING LAW? Why YES it does.

This is quite interesting. I thought that the state of Ohio would need to pass a 3 foot passing law, but it seems that Cincinnati has taken THE LEAD in passing the law first.

YES, CMC 506-71 (b) states that, “The operator of a motor vehicle overtaking a bicycle proceeding in the same direction on a roadway shall leave a safe distance, but not less than 3 feet, when passing the bicycle and shall maintain that distance until safely past the overtaken bicycle.

Mayor Coleman, where is our 3 foot passing law?

See the rest of Cincinnati bike laws in a great pamphlet the city has created. [PDF]
