Fayette County Teen Dies After Being Hit By Car [ABC6]

FAYETTE COUNTY -- A high school student is dead after being struck by a car while riding her bicycle.

Leah Mootispaw -- who was a senior at Miami Trace High School in Fayette County -- was riding her bike on SR-41 NW Monday night, when she was hit by a 2002 Ford Escape.

Fayette County Sheriff's Office investigators say the Escape's driver, Stephanie Leasure, did not see Mootispaw on the road.

Leasure's vehicle is believed to have struck the back of Mootispaw's bike, throwing the teen to the ground.

Mootispaw was flown to OSU's Wexner Medical Center, where she died early Tuesday morning.

Leasure is not currently facing any charges in connection with Mootispaw's death. Investigators do not believe any illumination devices were present on the teen's bicycle.

The crash is still under investigation.
