1/7/2008 Ride Report

Even though the football team was on TV for the national championship we had a decent turnout. It must have been due to the 60 degree weather we were experiencing. We had about 25 people for the ride. As we rode through campus our first casualty (not fatal) was Bill, the ride leader, who dumped it on wet concrete. We didn't make it too far until our next pit stop at the Shoe. We had a flat to repair. Several slower riders decided to bail at that point. We headed west toward Grandview. We rode around the neighborhood before heading east toward the waterfront. We rode on the trail on the south side of the river and ended up at COSI. From there we headed north to East Broad and rode down to Franklin Park for an "official stop." We lost several people on our way down to the park. We were down to about 15 people at that point. A sprint (for some) up East Broad to High and down to the High Beck. 16 miles 60 degree weather in January Good turnout

2007 Mileage

1778 miles total. Down over eleven hundred miles from last year, due to moving and not riding last winter. I am trying to change that this year by riding in the winter. Please post any suggestions for winter rides. I am already riding the weekly night rides and trying to get to Bikin' Bob's rides.

7th Annual HATTARICK - Ride Report UPDATED

The HATTARICK (Hockhocking-Adena Trail To Athens Ride In the Cold for Koffee) ride is from Hocking Technical College to Ohio University in Athens on the Hockhocking Adena Rail Trail. The rail trail is 18 miles one way and we were planning on riding to Athens to eat lunch, then turn around and head back. When I left my place at 8:15AM it was around 36 degrees and sprinkling. I drove down 33 through Lancaster and Logan to Nelsonville where the trailhead is located and I parked at the Hocking TC parking lot across from the trail. When I pulled in to the lot there was one car. Eric was waiting for everyone to arrive. I pulled in and started to get the bike and gear ready. Pete and Marty showed up next and Andrew and then Rick was last to arrive. After introductions and photos we were ready to ride. Sidenote: When you attend rides you will always meet interesting people. Pete was definitely interesting. Sharp wit and shoeless. He was wearing flip flops! His feet were purple, but he sa
